In the Pan American and Oceania Judo Championships in Peru, the Dominican Republic ranked tenth out of a total of 22 countries taking part in the event. In the Pan American and Oceania Championships in the Junior division, Heriberto De Aza won the bronze medal in the minus 60 kilos category, defeating the Canadian Raphael Gaanan.
