JAPAN DOMINATES THE MEXICAN INTERNATIONAL BADMINTON CHALLENGE

The representatives of Japan imposed conditions and completely dominated the second edition of the Mexican International Badminton Challenge that brought together several of the best exponents in the world at the Olympic Gymnasium of the Sports Institute of the State of Aguascalientes.

The delegation of the rising sun confirmed why it is considered one of the greatest powers in the discipline, as they kept the titles in all the disputed categories.

From April 12 to 16, the city of Aguascalientes received more than 200 athletes from 25 different countries, in an event organized by the Mexican Badminton Federation, with the support of IDEA and which was part of the sporting events within the framework of the National Fair of San Marcos 2022.

In the women’s branch Riko Gunji beat his compatriot Natsuki Nidaira 21-14, 19-21 and 21-14 while in the men’s branch the victory went to Minoru Kaga by winning 10-21, 22-20 and 21-13 Brazilian Jonathan Matias

In the doubles category, women’s modality, the title went to the couple made up of Yuna Kato and Rui Hirokami; beating her compatriots Ayako Sakuramoto and Hinata Suzuki 15-21, 21-19 and 21-17.

Regarding the men’s branch, the victory went to the duo of Shuntaro Mezaki and Haruya Nishida who beat the Germans Jones Jansen and Jan Voelker 21-15 and 21-16 in the grand final.

Finally, the doubles in the mixed modality, the Japanese Naoki Yamada and Moe Ikeuchi, prevailed in the final against Vinson Chiu and Jennei Gai from the United States with a score of 21-15, 18-21 and 21-10.

The award ceremony was led by the head of the Sports Institute, Manuel Aceves Rubio, who thanked the athletes for their dedication during this event. It should be noted that during the final day, the Governor of Aguascalientes, Martín Orozco Sandoval, was present.
