Dornbirn’s baseballers win opening games against the Feldkirch Cardinals.

Dornbirn. Last weekend, Dornbirn’s baseball team also started the new season – with a derby smash against the Cardinals team from Feldkirch.

Dornbirn’s two starting pitchers, Ryan Rupp and Andriu Marin, dominated the Cardinals’ batsmen, and in both games only one Feldkircher could reach third base. It wasn’t enough to get a point in either game.

The Indians pitchers were supported by a flawless and sometimes spectacular defense. In the first game, Dornbirn took an early lead of 6-0 and were able to end the game early with 10 points in the 7th period. The second game of the day was more balanced. Cardinals pitcher Jayson Wilbur kept the hosts in the game for a long time with over 10 strikeouts, but Andriu Marin didn’t give up and celebrated a brilliant debut. The Indians’ defense was flawless and didn’t allow a single run in this game either. In the end, two runs were enough for the guests to win.

After the game, neo-coach Graeham Luttor was very satisfied with the performance of his pitchers and defense, but also with the performance of the batsmen, who, despite the few preparatory games, were able to produce good contacts, especially against the Canadian from Feldkirch. After four semi-final appearances in the last four years, the Indians want to bring a medal to Dornbirn again this year. The goal of achieving two wins right at the start was thus fully achieved and made the numerous fans from Dornbirn who had traveled to cheer. (cth)
