Hoop Summit | The American demonstration

The NBA scouts and GMs met in Portland on Friday to attend the Hoop Summit, this kind of high school All-Star Game, between the U19 team from the United States and a selection of the best foreign players of this age class. As in 2019, the date of the last edition, the Americans are winning, and rather in the large widths: 102-80.

However, it was the World Team which had the best start thanks to Tyrese Proctor and Jean Montero to lead 13-5 then 26-23 after ten minutes. But the wealth of the American workforce will then make the difference, and the steamroller will start. It’s Cam Whitmore (Villanova) who will sound the charge with his dunks, while Kyle Filipowski (Duke) does the dirty work under the panels.

At halftime, Team USA went ahead (51-45), and the domination was confirmed with Whitmore who found Dariq Whitehead (Duke) for the 3-pointer which gave them a 12-point lead (63-51). At the start of the last quarter, the gap has stabilized (74-64), and Nick Smith Jr (Arkansas) and Amari Bailey (UCLA) are responsible for sinking the World Team with a gap that will reach the 22 points: 102-80.

It was the 23rd edition of this rally created in 1995, and the Americans lead 16 victories to 7.
