Rivière-du-Loup – The Portageurs of Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup distinguished themselves at the 43rd edition of the Provincial Mixed Collegiate Badminton Championships, division 1 of the Quebec Student Sports Network, held at Cégep de Drummondville from 1 to April 3, 2016.
The delegation, made up of 14 athletes and three coaches, represented the Cégep with dignity. Olivier Arseneau, a native of the Magdalen Islands and a student in Human Sciences, won the silver medal in the men’s singles category after losing in the final in three sets. In the men’s doubles category, teammates, Édouard Proulx and Anthony Chouinard, also lost in three sets to finish in 4th position in men’s doubles.
The Portageuses and Portageurs badminton team in Division 1 badminton finished 5th in the team tournament and second in the regular season, in the Northeast Conference, under the supervision of head coach Alain Proulx .
