Seeking a sixth coronation in Georgia to equal Jack Nicklaus’ record, Tiger Woods returned a card of 74 on Friday, two strokes over par. Which, combined with his -1 the day before, makes him total +1, for a slide to 19th position.
So after roaring Thursday, the Tiger was in trouble during the second day. But he fought to avoid missing the cut in Georgia, which happened to him only once in 24 appearances, in 1996 when he was still an amateur.
“I have a chance to go to the end of the weekend. I hope I will have one of those moments of grace. On the last nine on Sunday, anything can happen. I just have to get until- the”he reacted hotly, conceding, about his physical condition: “I don’t feel as good as I would like.”
Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler, the 25-year-old new world No. 1, who remains on three victories (Phoenix, Arnold Palmer Invitational and World Match-Play Championship), flew over the debates.
