The midfielder of Begur, Gio Carreras, announced yesterday that he will hang up his boots at the end of the season. After a long career that she started at a very young age at the club in her hometown, the Empordà native will retire at the age of 32 as a player for PSV Eindhoven. The league in the women’s first division of the Netherlands ends on the penultimate weekend of May and their team will face theExcelsior Barendrecht on the 20th.

Carreras started chasing a ball for the first time at Begur, his hometown club, and then played for Estartit and Girona before signing for Espanyol, with whom he would make his debut in the top division of state women’s football. . Carreras’ last adventure, which in turn represented his retirement, was in the Netherlands.
