From tomorrow Sofia hosts the 2022 European Championships, 18 Azzurri competing in the continental review

The European senior judo championships will start tomorrow in Sofia. The Azzurri national team arrives in Bulgaria with a team of 18 athletes, captained by Fabio Basile, Rio 2016 Olympic gold medalist and Odette Giuffrida, thanks to her 2 Olympic bronze medals in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 and the 2020 European gold medal ‘silver 2021.
“The team is serene and motivated – said Laura Di Toma, national technical director – they did a good job in what was the first college of this year, after the long stop imposed by the pandemic. The health rules to be respected and the difficulties related to the contingent historical period have forced us to take alternative solutions to the usual ones for training, but today we are ready. The girls and boys are energized, but I want to emphasize how many good young people who participated in the college also contributed to their preparation, enriching the quality of the training. “
