Recent intervention as a commentator

In recent weeks, the country has had to live with the discontent of not reaching the World Cup this year; about it, Freddy Rincón spoke with SEMANA.

“When you see reality as a former soccer player, you see things differently. The game of the Colombian National Team does not bring any hope having other teams such as Peru and Uruguay above it, “said the former player.

Rincón considers that “the one who has the greatest fault is the coach, because of the decisions and the confidence that he must transmit.”

However, the soccer player from Buenaventura did not take away the responsibility of the soccer players. “Rebellion has been missing for a long time. Seven games without goals is not normal. The rebellion had to be a long time ago and it wasn’t. I do not exempt the coach in any way because he is the one who assembles the team on the pitch, but within it the players are the ones who decide”.

“Two games without goals is already a lot, that should have been fixed by now, but we have reached seven,” said Freddy, worried about the drought of more than 600 minutes that the national team accumulates.

The strongest criticism was related to the attitude of the players against Peru and Argentina. “To win you need attitude, desire, love for the shirt. So much has been lost.”

Regarding Falcao’s statements in which he aired Reinaldo Rueda’s request for holding the zero in the match against Argentina, Rincón pointed out that “a player of that category cannot go out and say that, on the court you have to rebel. The technician gives his idea, but one has to rebel. Limiting myself only to what the coach says does not seem like a clear solution to me”.

He didn’t leave James out of his critique either. “The fault of these things of the National Team lies with you journalists. In Colombia they deified the boys a lot and nothing can be said. We, from another era, say something about them and we are already enemies, ”he launched.

“When I talk about players they say that I envy them. I don’t care because I have my own opinion. I don’t know James, I never exchanged a word, but he lost his way in this profession. In the conditions that he is in I would not call him, he is a player who walks the court in one of the easiest qualifying rounds”, he pointed out about the performance of the 10 on the court.
