Davis Cup 2022: Spain will have Serbia, Canada and Korea as rivals in the Davis Cup

El Spanish Davis Cup team will play the group stage in Valencia contra Canada, Serbia and Korea in some eliminatory rounds that will give access to the final phase that will be played in Malaga, from November 21 to 27.

The Malaga Museum hosted the official draw for the 2022 Davis Cup group stage . Spain will be in group B with Canada, Serbia and the Republic of Korea as rivals in some matches that will be played between September 14 and 18. The first two of each group will access the November finals in Malaga.

Valencia and its pavilion of La Fonteta de Sant Llus, the usual track of the Valencia Basket, with a capacity of 8,500 people, will host Spain’s matches in this group stage. Spain will host from September 14 to 18 along with Italy (Bologna), Germany (Hamburg) and Great Britain (Glasgow).

Italy, in group A, will have Croatia, Argentina and Sweden as rivals. In group C, Germany has been paired with France, Australia and Belgium. In group D, Great Britain will receive the United States, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan.

According to Efe, the draw was attended by Councilor for Education and Sports of the Board, Manuel Alejandro Cardenete; the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, the director of the Sports Area of ​​the Diputación de Málaga, Borja Vivas; the Councilor for Culture and Sports of the City Council, Noelia Losada; the General Secretary for Sports of the Board, José María Arrabal, in addition to David Haggerty, the president of the International Tennis Federation, and representatives of the organizing company Kosmos.

Cardenete welcomed “the entire tennis family to a land that understands all the needs of the sport” and to be “tennis capital of the world” in November; and he has stated that Andalusians are “passionate about this sport”remembering that two of the six salad bowls achieved by Spain were in Seville.

For its part, De la Torre pointed out that “the eight best teams in the world will try to be in Malaga” and that he hopes “that Spain can be here”.
