Champagne Basket has a new coach

The Marne professional basketball club announced on Friday April 15 that it had appointed a new coach “from now on and for the next two seasons”.

His name had been circulating for a few days. It is now official. Thomas Andrieux is the new coach of Champagne Basket. His appointment is immediate and he has already signed for the next two seasons, the club said.

“His human qualities, his work force and his vision of the game, as well as his attachment to the Marne territory make him the natural candidate to accompany Champagne Basket in a new cycle”indicates the Champagne Basket in a press release sent at the start of the day this Friday, April 15.

Thomas Andrieux, 45, has been a coach since 2011. Before that, he was a player, notably in Châlons-en-Champagne between 2003 and 2005 then in Reims from 2005 to 2007. Champagne Basket is currently 18th and last in the classification of the Betclic Elite, the first division of French basketball. He remains on nine consecutive defeats in the league. The club had been coached since 2017 by Cédric Heitz.
