Although Chiellini still has a permanent contract with Juventus, he also expressed doubts about his future as a club football player after Monday’s victory over Sassuolo. Juventus is not playing a significant role in the battle for the league title this season and would like to thoroughly renovate the team.
“My relationship with Juventus does not end, it never ends,” said Chiellini. “First we will work on a good end to the season and then I will work with my two families, home and the club, to find out what is best for everyone.”
Only four Italians have played for the national team more often than Chiellini: Daniele De Rossi, Paolo Maldini, Fabio Cannavaro and Gianluigi Buffon. He now shares fifth place in the eternal ranking with Andrea Pirlo.
