Leylah Annie Fernandez was ruthless in her duel against Latvian Daniela Vismane, allowing Canada to qualify for the final phase of the Billie Jean King Cup on Saturday in Vancouver.

The Quebecer needed an hour to defeat Vismane in two sets of 6-2 and 6-1. She was particularly efficient when she managed to place her first serve in play, winning 76% of rallies. The 19-year-old saved the only two break points she faced.

With a third victory in as many games, Canada qualified for the second consecutive year for the final phase of this women’s tennis tournament.
