Bonn and Bavaria in step, Frankfurt descends

The Telekom Baskets Bonn continue to ride the wave of success in the BBL. In a narrow 78:72 (38:36) against the Giessen 46ers, the front runner celebrated the eighth win in a row on Wednesday. The outstanding man of the game was Javontae Hawkins with 35 points.

In lockstep, the Bayern Munich basketball team secured second place in the table. Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team defeated Syntainics MBC Weißenfels 86:78 (49:41) and remains within striking distance. Munich celebrated their twelfth home win of the season.

For the Fraport Skyliners, the first relegation from the Bundesliga is sealed. The German champions of 2004 lost 58:68 (21:30) at the Hamburg Towers and thus have no chance of remaining in the top German division. Hamburg stays on course for the play-off with the win.

Thanks to a miracle throw by Justin Robinson, Brose Bamberg’s play-off dream is alive. Two seconds before the end, the American threw a three-pointer to equalize despite a foul, and Robinson sunk the subsequent free-throw to make it 88:87. In tenth place, the gap to the first play-off place is four points.

In Bayreuth, the Niners Chemnitz secured a clear away win. At 83:69 (41:31) from Chemnitz, Jonas Richter was the best thrower with 22 points. That leaves the Niners in sixth place.
