Atlanta Braves beat Cincinnati Reds 2-1

Atlanta. Kyle Wright received his World Series ring along with many of his Atlanta teammates before pitching two-hit ball through six shutout innings as the Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 2-1.

Wright (1-0) struck out six and walked one. He retired 10 batters in a row before walking Tommy Pham leading off the seventh.

Will Smith earned the save despite walking Tommy Pham with two outs before allowing Joey Votto’s RBI single.

Boston falls 2-4 to Yankees

Meanwhile, Mexican Alex Verdugo drove in both runs for Boston with a home run, but the Red Sox fell 4-2 to the Yankees. Ranked fifth in the batting order, the tricolor fueled his team’s offense by going 2-for-3 in the game.

Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton also hit two-run homers each to give the Yankees the win.

In other results, Eric Hosmer hit the go-ahead single, Manny Machado added an RBI double, and the San Diego Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-2. In turn, the Dodgers fell 3-2 to the Rockies.
