A day of medical, social and sporting interest which saw, among others, the presence of the archer of the golden flames Cinzia Noziglia, recent individual and team gold medal at the European Indoor Championships and record holder in the naked arch specialty.

Today, in fact, at the Unipolar Spinal Unit of the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure, the blue athlete lent his participation in the research project “Biomechanics of archery: advanced analysis techniques for the characterization of movement and muscle activity in archers with spinal cord injuries and able-bodied “.

The act of drawing a bow strains the chest, hands, arms and large muscles of the upper back and rotator cuffs, which support the shoulders. The correct and continuous repetition of this movement strengthens these tissues. Therefore, it is suitable for people with reduced mobility, allowing them to continue moving and to train those muscle groups above the level of the spinal cord injury. In this sense, the project aims to employ advanced analysis techniques to investigate muscle movement and activations during archery in order to characterize the kinematics and muscle strategies adopted by athletes with and without movement disorders.

The event, organized and followed in the presence of the Director of the Spinal Unit Antonino Massone and the structure of professionals who in collaboration with the Department of Engineering of Genoa uses the most advanced techniques for the above study, also hosted the intervention of some representatives of the Italian Federation of Archery (FITARCO) and has allowed people with myelolysis, inside and outside the hospital, practicing this sport, to interact with Cinzia Noziglia, a nationally renowned profile.
