Alyssa Nakken became the first woman to coach during an MLB game

The San Francisco Giants corrected the San Diego Padres (13-2) on Tuesday in the MLB regular season. In this game, Alyssa Nakken became the first woman to coach during a professional league game. During the third inning, she replaced Antoan Richardson, the Giants’ first base coach, who had just been kicked out.

The 31-year-old has been an assistant coach since 2020, alongside Giants coach Gabe Kapler, and normally remains on the bench during matches. As he entered the field, Nakken was given a standing ovation by the spectators and was also congratulated by Eric Hosmer, the Padres guarding first base.
