The lunar exit of Djamel Belmadi on the referee (see here) who officiated during the play-off for the World Cup between Cameroon and Algeria (1-0, 1-2 ap) provoked strong reactions, including that of Tony Chapron. The former French international referee had strong words regarding the Algerian coach.

“It’s an insult. What he says is very serious. I think he should be suspended for a while. We are clearly facing a call for violence. I am appalled by such remarks. If the Algerians don’t go to the World Cup, they can only blame themselves When you score a goal in the 118th minute in a play-off and in the end you lose, ask yourself questions ” They are the ones who are responsible for their elimination, not the referee. I find it outrageous. As I often say: ‘The champions find solutions, the mediocre seek excuses’, and Belmadi is a mediocre,” said estimated the Canal + consultant.
