Alain Schmitt tried on appeal in Paris for domestic violence

4 months after his release at first instance, judo coach Alain Schmitt was judged this Friday, April 8, on appeal in Paris for domestic violence against the champion Margaux Pinot.

The case was quickly judged, before it took on a whole new media dimension, with this photo on the networks of the judo champion, Margaux Pinot, the bruised face.

During the trial, the judoka gets up from her bench and tells the “most horrible scene of his life”, she says. “He punched me in the face, hit my head on the ground and tried to strangle me,” she adds.

“It’s wrong”, defends Alain Schmitt, his former coach and ex-companion. “I never laid a hand on her. She jumped on me because I wanted to leave her to go to Israel and train another team.”he explains.

The deliberation will not be delivered until June 10

The president of the court questions him about the multiple injuries to the faces of Margaux Pinot. “She bumped into a door and a radiator on the way down,” he replies. The latter then pulls out photos from the file and shows the shots of the judoka. But then again, the coach of the Bulgarian national team has a new explanation: “it’s the hematoma that sank, it happens in judo”.

As in the previous trial, two antagonistic versions confront each other. For the Advocate General, there is no doubt. The multiple fractures of Margaux Pinot, come from the violent blows of his former trainer. And everything is in place to sentence Alain Schmitt to a 12-month suspended prison sentence. The deliberation will however not be made until June 10.
