The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly hoping quarterback Tom Brady’s return to play will convince tight end Rob Gronkowski to return to the team’s fold in 2022.

This was learned by the sports site The Athletic on Monday.

The day before, the 44-year-old pivot announced that he was coming out of retirement to return to the “Bucs” for a third season, just two months after announcing that he was ending his prolific career.

Gronkowski meanwhile became a free agent. He also hinted that he was considering retirement. The 32-year-old athlete would attract the greed of several NFL teams, including the Buffalo Bills, the team he admired as a child.

After nine seasons in a New England Patriots uniform, “Gronk” retired in 2018. He returned to football in 2020 to join Brady at the Buccaneers. That season, the duo won their fourth Super Bowl together.

Last year, the University of Arizona product had 55 catches for 802 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games.
