It may seem paradoxical, but Quique Estebaranz (Madrid, 1965), top scorer for Racing and Tenerife star in the 1990s, says that he began to think about the day after hanging up his boots when he reached the peak of his career: he signed for Barcelona de Cruyff and made his international debut with Spain. “Then I thought that life had to go on. Knowing how to face that moment depends on the character and the person, it is important to know how to manage oneself and the education received”, confesses the athlete. “All in all, you always yearn to be a footballer, although I think I knew how to mentalize myself and adapt.”

Like many former players, he decided to continue linked to sport in another way: he studied to be a coach and left the field directly to the technical area of the AFE School (Association of Spanish Soccer Players).
