A month before Roland-Garros, Rafael Nadal is back in training

It had been four weeks since he had kicked the ball. Rafael Nadal resumed training on Monday, following a “stress injury” to the ribs, a small stress fracture from the repetition of lateral movements.

The current fourth in the world has not replayed since his final loss to Taylor Fritz at the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells. The Spaniard therefore missed the start of the season on clay, his favorite surface, with in particular the success of Stefanos Tsitsipas during the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo this Sunday against the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-3, 7 -6).

If the champion’s recovery will be gradual, his return to the courts bodes well just over a month before the start of Roland-Garros, a tournament he has already won 13 times, which obviously represents an absolute record. .

After an almost perfect start to the season, with 20 wins in 21 games and three titles (Melbourne, the Australian Open and Acapulco), the Spaniard will try, on Parisian soil, to enter a little more into the story. Before that, Nadal could resume on May 1 at the Madrid side or maybe the following week in Rome.
