Joel Embiid was diagnosed Friday with an orbital fracture that will keep him out of action indefinitely, however, the Philadelphia 76ers are hoping to have their MVP during the upcoming series against the Miami Heat.
Embiid’s loss is very sensitive to the Sixers’ aspirations, but a report by John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia assures that there is still a chance of at least seeing him in the third game of the bracket against Miami on Friday.
Although the center is estimated to be out for the first two games of the series, Embiid won’t need surgery right now to heal, so the recovery process could be accelerated given the circumstances.
In the series against the Toronto Raptors he averaged 26.2 points per game, 11.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists, being, as he was during the regular season, the offensive pillar of his team.
Embiid is one of the favorites for NBA MVP this season thanks to his averages of 30.6 units, 11.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 49.9% shooting from the floor, 37.1% on three-pointers and a PER of 31.2.
If the Sixers can get him back, the series could take a different turn.
