After her semi-final success over number 2 seeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the 21-year-old also had hopes for the title – and she delivered a great fight to Chinese Zhang Shuai.

After losing the first set, the favored Chinese improved and finally beat the world number 140 in three sets 3:6, 6:3, 6:4. through.

Because of what happened in her home country as a result of the Russian aggression, sport became a minor matter for Yastremska anyway. Thanks for the support,” she said tearfully at the award ceremony.
