Mati Drummond Deeves and Alejandro Medina Lorenzo, judokas from the Costa Teguise Judo Club, won medals this weekend at the 2022 Junior Canary Islands Championship held at the Martín Freire in the Ciudad Deportiva de Gran Canaria.

The judoka Mati Drummond won the bronze medal after losing to the second classified, Nira Rodríguez, from the Las Nieves team from Gran Canaria. Martina Martín, Tenerife from Granadilla. she finally got the gold.

To the deserved medal of Mati Drummond was added the great silver medal of Alejandro Medina. On the way to the grand final, in the semifinals, he got rid of the judoka from Gran Canaria, Pablo González.

The team of judokas from the Costa Teguise Judo Club brings to Lanzarote a good loot with both medals and, above all, a good load of enthusiasm to continue working, despite the potholes, one of the best judo academies in the Canary Islands.

Alejandro Ramírez, technical director of the Conejero club, thanked “the delivery of the two judokas from the club who come with a medal around their necks from the Junior Canary Islands Championship. It is one more sign that we are working on the right path and that the Costa Teguise Judo Club continues to leave a good place, wherever it goes, based on dedication, talent and sacrifice, the good name of Costa Teguise and Lanzarote.

From the Lanzarote club they affirm that recognitions such as these are a good accolade to continue growing and believing with closed eyes in the path that we began years ago and that has made the Costa Teguise Judo Club what it is today, one of the best clubs both in the Canary Islands and at a national level”.
