These two women’s teams from Castellón will fight to go up to the first

The province of Castellón has a wide sports representation, both in the male and female categories. Beyond football, there are numerous clubs that practice other disciplines and that aspire to become benchmarks for their younger players and fans. And in this hard work of creating a school and reaching the top are both the Fustecma Nou Bàsquet Femení and the Errece Almassora Handball.

The entities chaired by Lola Valls and Francisco Sorianorespectively, have taken another step forward this season by qualifying to compete for promotion to the Liga Challenge (the prelude to the first division of national basketball) and to the call Iberdrola Warriors League (the highest women’s category of handball in Spain). And both clubs have done it even before the regular stages of their respective competitions have ended.

Of the two, the Nou Bàsquet is a veteran in these fights since has fought in recent years to climb to Liga Femenina 2in which the Castellón women currently militate, and they know perfectly well what they are going to find ahead in the month of April.

The Nou will not be host

Now, after the restructuring of the competition carried out last year, the team from the capital of La Plana will play the promotion play-off to go up to second in a phase that will be played from the 21st to the 24th of next month at a venue yet to be determined. And it is that finally the Nou Bàsquet did not present a candidacy due to the impossibility of raising the nearly 48,000 euros that it had budgeted to host the promotion phase and act as hostesses. The term ended yesterday and the work of Lola Valls is to collect aid to be able to face the expenses of the play-off and to be able to fight to go up.

In the case of Errece Almassora Handball this will be the first time in history that he will compete to climb to the highest category. After an irregular last season, the club formed a much more solid project and the girls are second in group C of the Division of Honor Silver with two days to go. They have secured second place and thus a place in the new Gold League, which will have twelve teams, but they will have the option of promoting one more rung and trying to represent Almassora as one of the best teams in Spain in 2022/23 .

Those who have stayed close to fighting to climb to the Super League are the girls from the Volei Grauwho have finished in third position, with the same points as the second classified but with one less victory.

The Bisontas, next?

In addition to Errece Almassora Balonmano and Fustecma Nou Bàsquet Femení, the next women’s team from Castellón that could qualify to compete for promotion to the highest category of their sport could be Bisons Castellón FSF. The team from the capital of La Plana has been leading Group 2 of the Second Division practically from matchday one and, with eight still to be played, is walking steadily towards the play-offs. A second chance for Ángel Zurilla’s team, who last season already fought for promotion but fell in the first round against La Concordia.
