The legendary Imola track, in which Brazilian driver Airton Senna was killed in 1994, returned to the race calendar in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic for the first time since the San Marino Grand Prix in 2006 as the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The track is also included in the number of stages of the 2022 season, and the competition will take place on April 24.

“The track is iconic and part of our sports history. The organizers have done an incredible job of organizing two races during the pandemic,” says F-1 manager Stefano Domenikali.

“Our Italian fans can be proud to host two F-1 races, but fans around the world will see this fantastic track on the calendar in the future,” he added.

The second F-1 race in Italy in 2022 will be the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.

The 23-stage 2022 season will begin on March 20 with Bahrain’s Grand Prix, and until then, the teams will hold a second training session from March 10-12 in Bahrain, Sahir.
