Sweden fail to 2022 World Cup after losing in the play-offs. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was asked about his future plans after the Swedish failure.

Sweden was defeated by Poland in the 2022 World Cup play-off final. In the match at the Silesian Stadium, Wednesday (30/3/2022) early morning WIB, Sweden lost 0-2.

Ibrahimovic came on as a substitute in that match. The 40-year-old striker was only introduced in the 80th minute when Sweden were already two goals behind.

Ibrahimovic’s contract at AC Milan runs out this summer and questions have been raised whether he will extend his contract if Sweden fail to qualify for the World Cup. However, Ibrahimovic apparently has not considered hanging up his boots.

“As long as I stay healthy, play and contribute, I hope so (keep playing),” said Ibrahimovic as reported by Football Italia.

“I will continue as long as I can. You will not get another answer from me, just because we didn’t win and didn’t qualify for the World Cup,” he said.

Last week, Ibrahimovic said he felt a little panicky when he thought about retiring. He was determined to enjoy the rest of his career.

According to reports The Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan is likely to offer a contract extension with a lower salary for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Milan also reportedly will offer one of the director positions for Ibrahimovic at the end of his career.
