Summer camps in Lombardy to promote children’s self-esteem

From the Region 25,000 euros to finance the project

Milan, 8 March (askanews) – The Lombardy Council has approved the collaboration agreement scheme between the Region, the Guardia di Finanza and the Regional School Office to offer children the opportunity to participate, from May to July, in sports, training and educational campuses, which they also aim to improve their self-esteem. The ‘Sport and legality-The school takes the chair’ project aims to enhance the socio-educational function linked to sporting practice to combat all forms of discrimination and promote equal opportunities. Furthermore, the aim is to spread sports and motor practice also as a tool against early school leaving and dropping out.

The project, entirely supported by regional funding of 25,000 euros, is aimed at students from Lombard schools. “I am particularly proud of the resumption of this project started in 2019. Sport has very important educational functions and this initiative aims to enhance its social potential and its effectiveness in inclusion” commented the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Lombardy Region in a note. with responsibility for Sport, 2026 Olympics and Major Events, Antonio Rossi.


“We hope to replicate the success – underlined Rossi – of the similar initiative of 2019, which saw the active participation of 60 Lombard boys in a one-week campus in the headquarters of the Athletes Nuclei of the Sports Center of the Guardia di Finanza in Castelporziano, Predazzo and Sabaudia. Our young people had the opportunity to carry out numerous activities in a context of common life, outside the family and school environment: from athletics to swimming, from fencing, to shooting, from judo-karate to my beloved canoe and to rowing but also skiing and sailing. Activities accompanied by seminars on legality and correct lifestyles, lessons on athletic training, workshops on respect for the environment “.
