Stan Wawrinka is planning a comeback on the ATP tour after several foot surgeries and has big plans

He has had a wish for a long time: “Since my knee injury almost five years ago, it has been my dream to win another ATP tournament before I quit.” The 36-year-old still wants to achieve this goal.

It’s been a while since the last title though. In 2017 Wawrinka won the tournament in Geneva. The Olympic Games in Paris 2024, which will be held on sand, could also be a motivation for him, the Swiss added.

According to Wawrinka, he is planning his comeback on the ATP tour at the latest at the tournament in Monte Carlo. The Masters in the Principality will take place from April 9th to 17th.

The three-time Grand Slam winner last served at the Doha event in early March last year. After that, the foot problems put him out of action.

As a result, Wawrinka missed the French Open, Wimbledon, US Open and the Olympic Games in Tokyo. In November 2021, “Le Parisien” reported, among other things, that the 36-year-old was preparing for his comeback at the training ground of the French football club Paris Saint-Germain.

Wawrinka has apparently been training in the French capital since last August and is preparing for his comeback.
