Sports policy – Hamburg – FC St. Pauli training center: criticism from clubs continues – politics

Hamburg (dpa / lno) – The planned expansion of the training and performance center of the second division soccer club FC St. Pauli continues to evoke criticism from the clubs concerned. In a statement on Thursday, representatives of Hamburg Stealers, ETV Hamburg Knights, TSV Stellingen, SV West-Eimsbüttel and HFC Falke pointed out that the announced participation process was not yet recognizable despite individual discussions with the state sports office.

Due to the expansion planned from 2025, it is planned that the clubs concerned will receive a new sporting home. The representatives again expressed their concerns that the space available then would not be able to meet the respective requirements of the clubs. They also repeated their criticism that they were only informed two days before the official announcement on February 2nd and that they were not involved in the planning.

The clubs also emphasized that it was not about preventing the expansion of the training and performance center, but made it clear: “The lack of participation and the disregard for the interests of amateur athletes prompts us to formulate this joint statement and the interests of the amateur clubs to represent together in the further process.”
