President of the IPD shared training with cycling athletes, for cycling, table tennis and badminton

The president of the Peruvian Sports Institute, Julio Rivera Gonzales, made an unexpected visit to the facilities of the National Sports Village (VIDENA), to inspect the work and training that the federations and their athletes have been carrying out, within the framework of the reactivation of the national sport with a view to participating in this Olympic cycle.

As a first stop, the head of the IPD entered the Velodrome, where he was able to observe the training sessions by the Peruvian Cycling Federation and offered a few words of support to the athletes present during the visit and had a brief meeting in situ with his President, Gustavo Matus de la Parra.

Continuing with his tour, Rivera Gonzales visited the training sessions of the Peruvian Sports Federation of Table Tennis, located in Sports Center 2 of VIDENA, witnessing the intensity of the training by the athletes and the professionalism that each one imprints on him of them in their preparation.

On this second visit, the person in charge of receiving him was Marisol Espineira, president of the aforementioned federation, as well as the coaches of the women’s and men’s teams.

Likewise, Julio Rivera also visited the badminton athletes where he not only observed their training, but also spoke with the president of the federation, Gonzalo Castillo, and was able to offer his unconditional support to the athletes so that they can continue their preparation by working together with your federation.

“My responsibility as President of the IPD is that our athletes are in optimal conditions, that they do not worry about situations unrelated to sport and that they feel good so that they can perform in the best way,” Julio Rivera said.

When asked about his management’s policy of getting more involved with athletes in terms of their preparation and acquittal of their needs and making unexpected visits to their training venues, Rivera Gonzales commented: “As a former athlete and current President of the IPD I know the reality of sport in Peru. It is my responsibility to visit them, to tell me about their concerns and needs so that they can be well and fully dedicate themselves to the sport. We have to work jointly to lead athletes to success”.

“President Rivera’s visit took me by surprise and I love being able to meet him, it is very important for us athletes to know who the people in charge are, so I think it is very special of him to come visit us and be close to us,” he said. Inés Castillo, outstanding national athlete.

It is important to point out that this will be the first of many unexpected visits that the President of the IPD will make to the different sports federations to corroborate the work that they have been doing together with their athletes.
