The logistical problems that affect the transport of goods for the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) MotoGP world championship have forced the program of the Argentine GP to be changed, suspending practice on Friday.

Five cargo flights with the material were initially planned from Lombok (Indonesia), to Tucumán, near Termas de Río Hondo, in Argentina, in the week following Indonesia.

Due to two separate problems affecting two flights, the final cargo for Argentina will now arrive in the country on Friday, on a flight that contains cargo for all the categories of the World Championship, which has forced changes to the schedule for all categories and the cancellation of the test day on the first day of competition.

All free practice sessions and qualifying will take place on Saturday morning, which means that only one of the Friday sessions has been cancelled, and the other has been moved to Saturday, when qualifying for all categories will also take place. . The Sunday morning warm up sessions have been extended, with each race starting at the same time as originally scheduled.

five flights

The trip from Lombok to Termas consisted of five flights with three of the planned cargo routes that carried cargo from Lombok to Tucumán via technical stops in Mombasa, Lagos and Brazil. On the other two routes, the cargo was scheduled to travel from Lombok to Doha, from Doha to Accra, in Ghana, and then to Tucumán.

The chain of events began last Wednesday when one of the five planes suffered a problem during a technical stop in Mombasa (Kenya). The first plane, which had already arrived in Tucumán, returned to Lombok to pick up more cargo and, unfortunately, also suffered a technical problem during a stopover last Wednesday night.

As of Thursday morning, local time in Argentina, a load remains on the ground in Mombasa (Kenya), where the plane is waiting for a piece to fly again, with two pieces – one sent from Europe and another reserve, shipped from the Middle East – on its way. The plane is expected to take off on Thursday afternoon and follow the route from Mombasa via Lagos and Brazil, arriving in Tucumn on Friday.
