The 42nd edition of Europe’s largest basketball organization will be held in September 2025. Latvia will host the final stage of the tournament and one of the groups in the group stage, while Cyprus and Finland will each host one group in the group stage.

FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel chaired the meeting, while FIBA President Hamane Niang, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and FIBA Europe Executive Director/FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak attended the meeting.

Prior to the host announcement, the FIBA Europe Board also discussed the current situation in Ukraine and how the war has affected the sport and especially basketball.

Taking into account the extremely difficult circumstances and the great challenges facing the country, and as an act of solidarity with the Ukrainian Federation, the Board has decided to continue its private talks with Ukraine until November 2022 to host the fourth group of the FIBA EuroBasket.

At the same time, FIBA Europe will work on an alternative plan.
