Kyrgos turned to face the world: “This track is the worst. The crowd is the worst. Everyone is the worst. You can’t play on these courts at all. At all,” he roared.

With Sinner serving for 5-4, the chair umpire’s walkie-talkie roared. Some abrupt sounds sneaked in that made the point stop, repeat it. A unique opportunity for Kyrgios to have with Carlos Bernardes.

“You should be fired on the spot. They should get rid of all the staff and start over (referring to referees and supervisors). I could do a hundred times better,” Kyrgios raged taking advantage of the break, his approach to the chair.

“You can’t do your job. It’s a joke. Fourth round and the referees can’t do their job. It’s a shame,” the tennis player launched.

Bernardes weathered the storm with a left hand. He spoke on the talkie with whom he was supposed to during the break reporting the problem and calmly put on his sunglasses ‘passing’ the wayward Kyrgios. He was left ahead, fires surely to put out.

So it was. before finishing, point and penalty game, just starting the second set, for repeated “unsportsmanlike conduct”. He broke his racket with repeated hits on the ground, he talked too much. “The whole public is booing you. You don’t love this sport at all,” Kyrgios snapped at Bernardes.

He endured on court, until losing 7-6 (3) and 6-3.
