The sports world mourns Jacques Cicofran, who died at the age of 80. Child of AC Darboussier, one of the creators of the Ban E Lot club, he marked his time by becoming the regional technical adviser (CTR) of the discipline in the 80s.

He loved swimming, he loved sports… especially basketball. He was one of the figures of Guadeloupe basketball.

Jacques Cicofran had started basketball in the club of his district, the Amicale Club Darboussier, aged ten years.

After a brilliant career as a player, he went to INSEP to prepare his coaching diploma.

During this period, he met French basketball personalities and did his internship at the Bagnolet club. Initially, he took care of the youth teams, then the management entrusted him with the professional group.

Strengthened by this experience, he returned home to the ACD. But unfortunately, his principles do not agree with those of the leaders of the time.

In 1969, he left the ACD to create his own club, Ban E Lot, which was born on September 25, 1969.
