Former Brugeois and Steelworker, Serge Kimoni recounts his years in Belgium: “With Bruges, we should have won the UEFA Cup”

Serge Kimoni recounts his crazy years, with the Steelworkers and the Blauw en Zwart.

Semi-finalist of the 1988 UEFA Cup with Club Brugge, then back in D3 at Seraing, before returning to Europe in 1994 with the Steelworkers, Serge Kimoni (56) could write a book about his career, rich in twists and crisp anecdotes. Some very funny, others not so much.

It was in his favorite bar, the Brasserie de l’Air Pur, run by Marc Grosjean’s sister and decorated with photos of the great Seresian years, that “Kim” told us about his adventures. A one-hour journey into the football of the 1980s and 1990s, a far cry from current interviews. “If there had been smartphones in my time, I would have been killed. I remember that we sometimes found journalists in nightclubs, they went out to the same places as us. Except that they didn’t write anything about what was going on.”
