Football England – Ballon d’Or: A bogus ranking, Salah accuses!

In December, Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or 2021 beating Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho.

The final classification of this Ballon d’Or was extremely commented on because of the coronation of Lionel Messi, who did not deserve this trophy more than Robert Lewandowski or even Karim Benzema according to a majority of observers. In Africa too, the Ballon d’Or ranking has been talked about because of the ranking of Mohamed Salah, only seventh and who is behind Cristiano Ronaldo or Ngolo Kanté, which may also seem surprising. In an interview with the DMC channel, the Egyptian striker from Liverpool did not hide that he was shocked by his classification in the Ballon d’Or as well as by his absence in the team of the year unveiled by the FIFA at “The Best” trophies.

Salah shocked by Ballon d’Or ranking

“It shocked me [de ne pas faire mieux dans le vote pour le Ballon d’Or], but there is nothing I can say. No one in the world expected me to be seventh, but that’s what happened. I don’t feel the conspiracy theory, but there may be inaccurate choices, and there are many countries that are not popular with football knowledge. I don’t know what their choices are based on, but I don’t believe in conspiracy theories. I don’t feel there’s anything personal against me specifically in FIFA’s picks, but that’s the reality we’re dealing with. There are no words to describe how I feel about people’s positive comments about me or to be a reason for their hope” said Mohamed Salah, who feels a sense of injustice in view of his classification in the Ballon d’Or but who nevertheless refuses to believe for example in an anti-Africa vote.
