Comiso – PD: “Very serious vandalism, it is necessary to find the culprits and immediately restore the damage”

“A beautiful multipurpose sports facility, dedicated to the young people of the neighborhood, inaugurated four years ago after major redevelopment works, carried out following a persistent period of neglect and decay. A place appreciated and frequented by young people as an important meeting place that has seen an inexplicable havoc by vandals who have raged with unprecedented destructive violence against the spaces used as changing rooms. Unfortunately, the city is not new to these events that have seen destroyed and smeared, benches, games for children, street lamps, walls, and other objects of street furniture and public green in numerous public places, as already reported at the Villa comunale, at the Monument to the Resistance, in the Ippari Park, in the Santi Apostoli Quarter in Pedalino, etc. ” This was stated in a press release by Gigi Bellassai, secretary of the Democratic Party of Comiso.

“This last fact certainly appears more serious and dangerous, because it is configured – reads the document – as a qualitative leap in the barbaric and destructive action that probably in the grip of the phenomenon of the herd, devoid of any scruple and civic sense, have produced with lucidity damages for tens of thousands of euros.

As secretariat of the Democratic Party of Comiso and Pedalino, strongly regret what happened, we declare ourselves available for any collaboration to intervene in the contrast to the escalation of this phenomenon, we ask the police for every effort to identify the culprits using any images and testimonies of an event that has certainly aroused attention, we ask for help from citizens of good will to prevent these phenomena, we propose to schools, in the context of the hours of civic education, a moment of reflection on what happened as a path of active citizenship. Finally, we ask the Municipal Administration to intervene immediately to restore the damage caused by this ignoble act of vandalism, to give the sign of a united and present community and at the same time providing a strong and authoritative civic response that testifies that acts like these cannot be absolutely tolerated. “
