Career end at St. Pauli?: Burgstaller still has Schalke in mind. – 2nd Bundesliga

Just switch off and clear your head. St. Pauli striker Guido Burgstaller (32) enjoyed the short break in his home country of Carinthia (Austria) during the international break. Did he also think about the future?

It doesn’t matter whether it’s in the 1st or 2nd league – Burgstaller still has a contract (runs until 2023) at Millerntor for the next series. Open how to proceed.

Burgstaller: “I feel good, but I’m a certain age. I’m wondering how long it’s going to last. But right now I have no reason to hang up my football boots.”

Sounds like a possible career end at St. Pauli, right?

Burgstaller: “Never say never.” But: “I said that at Schalke and then it turned out very differently. That’s why I prefer to hold back a bit.” Burgstaller still has Schalke in mind…

He was under contract from January 2017 to the end of September 2020. After Schalke stopped working, sports director Andreas Bornemann (50) lured him to Hamburg. That’s where he really blossomed.

This also applies to Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (26). The midfield magician is on the list of some Bundesliga clubs, including Gladbach. “Of course I wish him the chance to take the next step,” advises Burgstaller. But he doesn’t always see the advantage abroad: “It’s a question of whether the next step is at another club. You have to see that at the end of the season.”
