BASKETBALL: Amiens leaves the red zone

After his 59-82 victory away to BeuvragesFrédéric Domon, the coach of theASCBBlooks back on the performance of his team.

You continue your good streak with this victory…

We are going to repeat ourselves but we are on the momentum of what we have been doing since the beginning of the year. I’m happy because hard work pays off. What gives me even more pleasure is that it is players from the bench who bring more and more. There we could do without for about 20 minutes Florent Ramseyer and of Joel Muamba because they were penalized by mistakes quickly. It’s a positive point to be able to count on entrants.

You tried several players at the position of leader, and it was finally Boufares Yahiaoui who perhaps brought you the most satisfaction?

It’s not maybe, that’s for sure! It has to come out of its box too. He does not miss a training session, he works hard and there he is also rewarded for his work. AT unlike some, he didn’t give up and yet I don’t spare him in training. He takes a lot (sic) but the guy is still there and he is rewarded for all the work he has done since I took over the team. It was a good surprise for us but a surprise that comes at the right time.

In the first half you weren’t skilful unlike Beuvrages and yet you stay in touch…

Before the match, I told them “we can’t be worse off than in the first leg. » AT half-time in the locker room finally I said to them “ah! if we can be more useless”. What we did in the first half was even worse than what we did in the first leg. I think we didn’t get into the match in the best way. We weren’t patient enough in attack. We made a pass, a shoot. And when you don’t put it in it hurts. In defense we have athletes so we rather managed to contain them even if they scored points.

Conversely in second it’s easier for you, Beuvrages loses address and you are more efficient in attack…

I had not forgotten their songs in the locker room in the first leg. Against Charenton it was the refereeing, there it was above all the chambering after the first leg that stuck in my throat. That we are happy when we win, on that no problem, but there is the way to celebrate and when that bedroom I like it less. I tried to play on that too to motivate the team, a bit like against Charenton.
At half-time I tell them “if you manage to pass the ball, you will see that we are going to change the landscape”. And that’s what we did in the second half, we turned the ball around and we found much easier shooting positions, less forced shots. There were good relations at the high post and the low post. There were more moves in the second half and from there it was on.

Beuvrages gets angry, do you think that gets them out of the game?

It’s a game that meant a lot to them too. Maybe we too could have gotten upset. So yeah maybe they get out of the game but it can happen to anyone. Us against Paris Finances we come out of the match in the fourth quarter time and we lose a match that we should never have lost.

You get out of the red zone but nothing is done, from 10th to 5th place it is within 2 points. Does that show the importance of the next matches?

All matches are cup matches. There is one month and four games left. Four games to make efforts for each other to try to keep the team in N3. There are four games left to show that those who did not put a coin on us at the start of the season, and trust me there were many of them, we were wrong. There were many of them who hoped that we were going to come back down, I hope that we will show these people that thanks to work we can achieve our objectives despite means that are not enormous. We don’t have huge resources yet we may manage to hold on and that wouldn’t be a small feat.
