1. FC Saarbrücken: Homburg knocks Saarbrücken out – football

Third division 1. FC Saarbrücken can no longer win a cup!

After last year’s final bankruptcy against Elversberg, it’s already over in the quarter-finals in Homburg – 1:2 in front of 6100 spectators…

The game is about to kick off! There are chances on both sides. The first has the ex-Saarbrücker Markus Mendler, whose shot hits the left side netting (3rd).

But Saarbrücken also plays along, Ernst’s volleyball goes just a few inches to the left (17′). It goes back and forth: Ristl’s cracker scratches Batz out of the corner (22′). Homburg is better now and has a double chance through Onangolo and Dulleck (37′).

Then the bell rang in the Saarbrücker Tor: Boeder dribbling the ball away against Hingerl, Dulleck stormed towards Batz and slammed the goal from the right – 1-0 for the regional league team (42nd). Not undeserved!

During the break there was a bang in Saarbrücken’s dressing room, the sermon from coach Uwe Koschinat reached the players. Kerber pokes the ball in the direction of the goal, somehow he gets to Dominik Ernst, who shoots the ball in from six meters to make it 1-1 (51st).

The FCS now better in the game. Jacob misses Ernst’s flat pass into the center by just a toe (59′). Dulleck had a huge chance in the 80th minute, but his shot hit the side netting. Homburg leaves Saarbrücken more of the game, but then does it really well. After Stegerer’s pass into the penalty area, Mart Ristl slammed the ball into the corner to make it 2-1 for Homburg (83′).

Ristl said to BILD weeks ago: “We want to win the cup, so we have to beat FCS.”

Zeitz has the 2:2 on his feet, his shot misses by a hair’s breadth to the right (90’+1′).

Crazy: Jacob pushes the ball past the empty goal from one meter a second before the final whistle – unbelievable! Then the FCS professionals sink to the ground.

Saarbrücken must now finish in the top four in the league, otherwise the DFB Cup will take place again without FCS.
