It’s a victory for Clément Musumadi. But the judoka did not win on the tatami. The champion has just obtained a temporary residence permit. The athlete has lived in Montpellier for 3 years, since he was threatened with death in his country, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is one of the greatest victories of his life as a man and as a judoka. Without papers, threatened with expulsion, the Congolese Clément Musumadi obtained on January 5 a temporary residence permit for one year.

It’s the beginning of another life, which has just begun. Before, I had another status that did not allow me to do everything and now, I have a status that will allow me to evolve in the sports worlds and to evolve in my projects.“, rejoices Clement.

A fight he won thanks to the unfailing support of his club Jita Kiyoei Judo 34, and the Montpellier authorities.

It is thanks to this club that I was able to meet authorities of the city of Montpellier that I would not have dared to imagine in my life. They all came to support me. They were interested in my file and my club is there for everything“, thanks the judoka.

From the shadow to the light. At 27, Clément finally has his destiny in hand and can look to his sporting and personal future with much more certainty.

I can move forward calmly. And what is even more important for me, I will go back to school and live my life like everyone else.” concludes the champion.

Today the judoka of 1m 90 for 120 kilos feels light and begins to dream of participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics, while following the course of the Montpellier nursing school.
