US Open Series: Elena Oetling achieves fourth place in the international competition

The Jalisco sailor achieved a great result in her first international competition of 2022. Elena Oetling took fourth place in the US Open Series after having competed against 79 other rivals in the ILCA 6 women’s category.

After three days of arduous competition in Clearwater, Florida, the Jalisco sailor ended her participation with a accumulated 33 points net in their regattas, enough to finish the competition among the first four positions.

“It was a tough event. The first day I suffered a lot, but by the second day my body got into rhythm and I felt very good in the rest of the races. I am very happy with the work, with the result, grateful to be here and calm that all the hard work that was done for Tokyo was not lost with the months that I took off”, expressed Oetling through her social networks after having obtained fourth place.

The woman from Jalisco was only surpassed by the Canadian Coralie Vittecoq, who took third place with 24 units; while the places of honor went to the Americans Christina Sakellaris and Charlotte Rose, who finished first and second with nine and 17 net points, respectively (in sailing, whoever accumulates the fewest units wins).

“This regatta is a good starting point, to know where I am and what to work on in the following months with a view to the events that come the rest of the year”Oetling concluded on his facebook account.
