This year, the Raid Amazones 2022 will take place in Sri Lanka, from March 13 to 23 and from March 27 to April 6, 2022. There will be 450 candidates, including three Lot-et-Garonnaises.
The Raid Amazones is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. To celebrate this symbolic anniversary, two close editions are organized. So, see you from March 13 to 23 and from March 27 to April 6, 2022, in Sri Lanka!
450 candidates will participate in a unique human and sporting adventure, including three Lot-et-Garonnaises during the first edition. During this raid, nature will become their playground.
More details: the three Lot-et-Garonne candidates come from Roquefort, Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot, and Laparade. The last two are also in the same team.
But what is the Amazon Raid? This is the first 100% female raid founded in 2001 by Alexandre Debanne. It is accessible to women of all ages, whatever their sporting level.
Participating in the Raid Amazones therefore means participating in an event that promotes self-transcendence and introspection through sport: this competition is truly part of those human experiences that change the perception of life and the world.
Moreover, it is a journey that is both interior and concrete, personal and collective, the latter allowing the creation of links and a unique solidarity between the candidates.
Finally, it is a human adventure which opens the eyes and the heart on the differences, in contact with the population of the country crossed, as well as on its culture.
An edition on the ancient island of Ceylon
In Sri Lanka, the candidates will be divided into teams of 2 or 3. The “Amazons” will therefore challenge each other for 6 days, in the early morning, in multiple disciplines: mountain biking, canoeing, trail running, archery as well as other surprise events.
In the afternoon, time to meet the local population. Indeed, we must not forget that the Raid Amazones is above all a human challenge. The latter allows you to discover the landscapes, but also the culture and traditions of the host country.
The Raid Amazones is also a solidarity event: thanks to support actions brought to a local association focused on the education of children, this project can be carried out.
Upstream of the adventure, the candidates also surpass themselves for a cause or an association chosen by teams, such as the fight against violence against women, or even the support of associations working for medical causes.
