The goal disallowed at Standard will be examined by the Disciplinary Council on February 18

On Monday, the Referee Department ruled that Standard player Moussa Sissako was not offside when he scored his goal against Cercle Brugge, a goal that would have been synonymous with victory.

The goal that occurred in the last seconds (90th + 4) was canceled after an intervention by VAR, and the match ended with a parity score of 1-1 on Saturday. Commenting on the refereeing decisions of the 26th day, the federation judged that “the reference points to determine the offside position were misplaced by the VAR”.

The Belgian Union’s press release stated that “VAR used a zoomed image to assess the situation. These images showed that the two offside lines were not touching and that Sissako was running in an offside position. .”

“The Referee Department recalculated the line on the same image and found that there was no offside. The phase was therefore misjudged. In this case, one must follow the decision made on the field and award the goal.”

The day after the match, Standard filed a complaint against this refereeing error.
