“This staff is incredible, but we are missing things. We need, I keep saying it, to do, then, one like those of the Arandina, we need to take one, but who is of legal age so as not to get into ‘jaris’, and charge her there all together. That is what really unites a staff and a team. Look at those from Arandina, they were going straight to a promotion» reads the audio that Carlos Santiso, coach of the women’s Rayo Vallecano, sent his coaching staff and that came to the public eye in November 2021.

The words, where the coach refers to the Arandina case, in which three players from the Burgos team were accused of sexually assaulting a minor under 15 years of age (one of them was acquitted), shocked the Rayista fans and, obviously, the club terminated his services.

However, the poor results of Rayo (bottom player in the Iberdrola League with only five points) have led the Vallecano team to fire Miguel Angel Quejigo and has confirmed the return of Santiso to the bench of the fringe, adding another reason for controversy in the delicate relationship between the club’s management and the fans.

The coach led his first training session last Friday, while the rayist rocks en masse they ask for his immediate dismissal and social networks are flooded with messages of indignation.

This newspaper has contacted Rayo Vallecano sources who state that, for the time being, there will be no official statement about it.

The answer to the controversy is silence: the players, at the center of a dark topic, do not plan to stir up the debate either. Their situation, precarious (they don’t even have a doctor on staff), doesn’t help them to express themselves clearly. “We are going to stay out, we are going through a very delicate situation,” the team captains recently commented on this to Cadena Ser.
