MLB: Elizabeth Benn appointed director of major league operations at the Mets

The New York Mets have hired Elizabeth Benn as director of major league operations, making her the highest-ranking woman in baseball operations in the organization’s history.

The news was first reported by CUT.

Since 2017, Benn has been involved in various areas within MLB, from baseball operations to labor relations and youth programs.

The Mets made management changes for the second straight time this offseason. This includes Jared Porter’s brief tenure as general manager after the 2020 season. Cubs.

Billy Eppler was then named CEO in November. Its staff today welcomes women working in baseball operations in the minor leagues, in the coordination of player performance or in data analysis, but this is the first time that a woman has been appointed director.

The Mets also hired Gretchen Aucoin as a minors coach during the offseason, making her the organization’s first female coach on the field.

Benn, a right-handed pitcher, was the first woman to join the New York City Metro Baseball League, a recreational league that includes several former college players.
