Martín Melo: “We are very happy with the first victory in the tournament”

Before the duel with Sport Club in Cañada de Gómez, the historic Nueve de Río Tercero player spoke with the press department, analyzing the team’s performance in these first matches.

The first victory of the team arrived, what analysis do you make of what was done last Saturday, what things did you manage to modify in order to achieve victory?

-We are very happy with the first victory in the tournament, I think that compared to the game we played against Ceibo, the difference was in the order. We were more judicious when it came to playing, we greatly improved the issue of spaces in offense and in defense we were able to defend correctly, although we did it against Ceibo as well, the issue of losses meant that they could get easy points and it was That made the difference between the two teams. On Saturday we were much more orderly to defend, we knew how to manage the times of the game, despite the fact that in the third quarter we had a gap due to the pressure they exerted, the team remained firm in the last period and we were able to keep the victory .

The team is adapting to the new coach’s system, little by little things are starting to come out more and that could be seen in the last game. What do they have to keep working on to find that optimal performance?
-We are in the process of adapting to the coach’s idea, not only as a team but also the players who joined this season have to finish joining the base that was already playing. I think we have to keep improving our order on the pitch, and that will surely make us a stronger team. We are on the way to finding that version of ourselves that is up to the level of the squad we have.

Now the duel with Sport is coming, where will the keys to the match be against a rival that becomes strong at home?
We have a tough game against Sport Club, on a pitch that is strong due to its history and where its main strength lies in the inside game, supported by the work of Delbon, Traverso and Montani Wortzel. We have to aim to defend strongly, trying to limit their play and making use of the long squad that we have, where we are all prepared to enter the field and perform.
