“Many thought I was almost Feyenoord”

Feyenoord was expressly interested in Joey Veerman last winter. However, there was no transition to the Rotterdammers. The midfielder indicates that a transfer to Feyenoord has not been so close.

“Many thought I was almost Feyenoord, but it’s never been this close. Feyenoord was the first to contact and made an offer. Only that did not come close to the asking price of Heerenveen”, Veerman begins in conversation with The Telegraph. The midfielder says he has had no contact with Feyenoord or Arne Slot. ”After Heerenveen – Feyenoord, just before the winter break, Slot tapped me and said: ‘See you soon’. After that I heard nothing more.”

PSV then reported in Heerenveen and the transfer was completed quickly. “If a deal is done in a day, they really want you. That gave me a very good feeling. In retrospect, I do not regret that the transfer to AZ broke down last summer, because it all worked out well for me. PSV is a bigger club after all and 23 is an ideal age to make the step to a Dutch top club.”
